Warm Winter Whites Bring Together a Hudson Valley Holiday Wedding

When a recent bride booked a December date, she asked for “winter whites.” Her simple request served as my inspiration to create florals designs that used winter elements, yet were warm enough to bring everyone together for a special evening.

For the bridal bouquet, I wanted to create something natural and elegant that reflected the time of the year. I used white anemones, peonies, ranunculus, nerines, and ivory majolica roses, along with seasonal greenery that included redwood pine with little cones, blue atlas pine boughs, and some blueberry juniper to add texture and a subltle touch of color. The result was a stunning piece that complimented her dress and looked great in the photographs, indoors and out. Thanks to Turnquist Photography for all the great images below.

To transform the wonderful industrial space at Helsinki Hudson, in upstate New York, we not only wanted to tie in the season, but also add warmth to the room, making the family and friends feel closer together. We began with a backdrop for the ceremony that consisted of a deep and textured green wreath and white flowing drapery. For the reception, garland of bay leafs and olive, filled with lush, white flowers, created the perfect warm and cozy feel to the space. Pinecones were casually interspersed, adding to the seasonal feel of the florals. This style of centerpiece helped make all the tables feel like one, creating an intimate setting for the dinner celebration.
