High Above the City Skyline

White and black florals. NYC skyline. Clear glass and mirrors—with elements suspended from above. I love when a client wants to do something modern and unique. As a designer, my work can be artistic, yet must incorporate the client’s vision, fit the venue’s aesthetic, and serve a purpose as an integral part of the event.

This wedding brought together a bride from LA, a groom originally from NYC, and guests from both coasts. For the ceremony, high above the Chelsea galleries at Glasshouses on West 25th Street, white florals filled the top of an acrylic chuppah, with hanging elements dropping down into the clear front pillars. The aisle was lined with curly willow branches that arched to create a wooded path, contrasting the city skyline views.

Reception centerpieces included glass containers with clean lines, filled with white flowers on the mirror top tables. A unique tall design stood over these arrangements, with curly willow and inverted floral arrangements, as well as suspended glass orbs with tea light candles— creating a true “above and below” effect. A lush, overflowing design filled the sweetheart table and cascaded down both sides to the floor.

The final look gave such a perfect feel to the space for this special event. Congrats Melissa and Jonathan!
